Masterplan

A contemporary urban garden in downtown Baltimore, this project solves a number of issues posed by urban living. All elements of the garden were required to be multi-functional in an effort to make the most efficient use of space: planter boxes double as bench/table, a cover for the A/C unit extends to create a storage box for trash and gardening tools, a planter box with stainless steel trellis helps to cover an unsightly wall. The small square footage and limited amount of sunlight restricted plant selection, as well, and led to a simplified color palette of greens in varying shades and textures. Materials were kept minimal and elegant, with the varying widths of mahogany fence boards reflecting the clean pattern of the bluestone paving. This terrace provides the client with her desired outdoor room, perfect for entertaining friends or enjoying a quiet evening alone.
